Darkest Dungeon Finding Bosses: A Veteran's Advice for New Players

As I delved back into Darkest Dungeon after a two-year hiatus, I couldn't help but share my thoughts on finding bosses in the game. As a veteran player, I've learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn't, and I'd like to offer some advice to new players and thread starters.

Firstly, I'm not convinced that activating Court and Colors is the best idea for your first run. It adds additional mechanics that you may need to work around, which can be overwhelming, especially if you're new to the game. I made this mistake myself and almost wiped my save due to the stress it caused. If you realize you're not ready for CC bosses and didn't stock up on blood vials after the mosquitoes have infected over half your roster, the courtyard will likely whoop your butt.

If you do decide to start Court and Colors, I recommend having a level 6 party consisting of SB, HWM, Jester, and Vestal. This setup has worked well for me in farming resources, particularly in the Crimson Court. However, be prepared for frustration, especially with the annoying mosquitoes. Don't say I didn't warn you!

One thing that's often overlooked is the level restriction removal mod. Without this limitation, you can explore new party compositions and find what works best for you. You can also try the Farmstead to collect some of the crystal trinkets, which are awesome to have in mid-game.

Another point I'd like to make is about the 'nonsensical' level restriction system. I personally feel that punishing players for something they have no control over (guys leveling up) is a waste of time. If you want to recover without pointless punishment, consider using the level restriction removal mod. This way, you can keep bringing your favorite heroes to level 1 dungeons and leveling up new ones.

Ultimately, my advice is to do the bosses the way they were meant to be beaten – with strategy, preparation, and a healthy dose of luck. Don't be afraid to experiment and find what works for you, but also be prepared for setbacks. Happy dungeon delving!
